The father of an 8-month-old boy was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of beating his son.
Spc. Daniel Sheffield, 24, a Fort Carson soldier in the 43rd Sustainment Brigade, was being held on suspicion of child abuse causing serious bodily injury after his son was taken to a hospital with a skull fracture and a subdural hematoma.
The boy “may be released from the hospital soon,” said Sgt. Steve Noblitt, Colorado Springs Police Department spokesman.
It appears that the incident happened at an apartment in the 4100 block of Westmeadow Drive, near Colorado Highway 115 and Star Ranch Road, according to Colorado Springs police.
