A 70-year-old pilot from Colorado Springs was “shaken up” but able to walk away from a hard landing in a field today that ripped off his plane’s landing gear and propeller.

The 1997 Darrow Stephen single-engine aircraft landed in the 7900 block of North Curtis Road, about 7 miles northeast of Falcon, at 11:50 a.m.

The pilot, Robert Myers, escaped injury and was walking around the plane when the Falcon Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies arrived, according to a media release from the Sheriff’s Department.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board instructed local authorities to investigate and forward their findings.
