Getting your player ready...

After a meeting that lasted about 40 minutes, Rockies manager Jim Tracy claimed he and center fielder Dexter Fowler are on the same page in mapping out a future in a Rockies uniform.

Tracy is mapping out a plan that hopefully will take Fowler back into the leadoff spot in the order.

Fowler returned to the Rockies Friday after spending several weeks in Triple-A in Colorado Springs. He batted eighth Saturday and was in the second position Sunday against the Milwaukee Brewers.

“You’d love to have him up at the top of the order,” Tracy said. “With all the things we’ve dealt with and the things he has to be mindful of you have to move him around him a bit and put a lineup together that makes sense for everyone, that’s what you’ll do.

“We’re completely on the same page,” Tracy said. “We’re trying to continue to educate a very talented player on what will make him as good an offensive player as he is a defensive player. That’s what our conversation was about.”

Tracy looks at Fowler as a potential force at the top of anyone’s lineup.

“There’s no question he could be a force ate the top,” Tracy said. “But you have to get him consistent where you can come to grips that he’s going to get an extra at bat and your going to get a quality at bat.”

For the time being Tracy will continue using Carlos Gonzalez in the leadoff spot.
