FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A Fort Collins man has been arrested by the FBI after federal authorities claimed he participated in a five-day cyber attack on PayPal.

Vincent Kershaw was one of 14 people arrested by the FBI on charges related to their alleged involvement in a cyber attack on PayPal’s website last winter. The Justice Department says the attack was part of an action claimed by the group “Anonymous.”

The Justice Department says the computer attack was in apparent retaliation for the online financial company’s decision to suspend processing donations to WikiLeaks.

A federal indictment unsealed in U.S. District Court in San Jose, Calif., says that Anonymous referred to the cyberattacks on PayPal as Operation Avenge Assange, a reference to WikiLeaks editor Julian Assange
