A coyote bit and knocked down a 2-year-old child who was on a Broomfield park path with his dad and sister.
The attack happened at about 8:15 p.m. in an open space section of Broomfield near the Anthem neighborhood, according to a Broomfield Police Department media release.
Police said the trio were walking when a coyote came out of tall grass and bit the boy on his back and buttock, knocking him to the ground.
“The boy screamed and the coyote ran back into the grass,” police said.
The father took his son to a local urgent care center where the boy was treated for “minor puncture wounds.”
The 9-month-old girl was not attacked or injured.
The incident is being investigated by the Colorado Division of Wildlife.
