Ty Wigginton hasn’t been the happiest man in the Rockies’ clubhouse lately. He’s a baseball lifer, a grinder. He will play just about anywhere on the diamond as long as his name is in the lineup. It wasn’t in the three previous games, but Wigginton started at third base Friday night after Ian Stewart’s three strikeouts the day before. Wigginton responded with a double off the center-field wall to lead off the fourth, scoring on Aaron Cook’s two-out single.
Glove story.
In what amounted to a virtual replay of Nate McLouth’s drive that he misplayed the day before, Seth Smith let Miguel Montero’s liner skip past him for a triple to open the bottom of the sixth.
Road woes.
Chris Iannetta, who went into the game hitting .150 with seven RBIs in 34 road starts, struck out and hit into a double play in his first two at-bats.
