Police are investigating the shooting death of a man whose body was found lying in a road early this morning.

The name of the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, has not been released pending notification of family members.

An emergency call was made at 3:34 a.m. from people who heard gunshots on the 3800 block of North Paris Street, said Sonny Jackson, Denver police spokesman.

When police arrived they found a man lying in the street with what appeared to have at least one gunshot wound and possibly multiple gunshot wounds, Jackson said.

Detectives are investigating the man’s death as a homicide, he said.

Police have not released information about any possible suspects.

The Denver medical examiner will determine the man’s identity and give an official cause of death, Jackson said.
