Spotlight on Danny Mwanga: A 20-year-old forward from the Republic of Congo who played at Oregon State, Mwanga has been rough on the Rapids. He has scored twice in two games, both second-half equalizers, including a 1-1 tie June 4. Mwanga did not play in the other meeting between the clubs, a 4-1 Rapids victory last September. He has scored five goals this season. Only Carlos Ruiz (six) has scored more for the Union.
Rapids: The Rapids rank third in MLS in goals scored (32), trailing only New York (38) and Seattle (34), but they have conceded 30. Only two clubs — Toronto (41) and Portland (32) — have yielded more. … Macoumba Kandji played 45 minutes in a scrimmage against Real Colorado Foxes this week. It was his second competitive action since tearing an ACL in the MLS Cup final last November. … The Rapids still have not repeated the same starting lineup this season.
