Two trucks parked near a warehouse in Arvada caught fire this morning and firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading to the building.

The fire started at about 4:30 a.m. at 11427 I-70 Frontage Road North, said Scott Pribble, an Arvada Fire Department spokesman.

Two cargo trucks were engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived and the blaze was threatening a third truck, Pribble said.

Gasoline was spilling from the trucks and catching fire with water as it washed away, Pribble said, complicating the effort.

Firefighters were also concerned about a nearby water retention pond and they took measures to make sure runoff from the fire didn’t spill into the pond.

Additionally, firefighters took an aggressive approach to ensure that the fire didn’t spread to the warehouse.

About 25 firefighters fought the blaze and had it under control in about 15 minutes.

No one was injured.

The two trucks were destroyed and the exterior of the building did sustain some heat damage, Pribble said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
