An Adams County Sheriff’s deputy facing criminal charges for allegedly breaking a teenager’s jaw while the youth was restrained has been fired.
Patrol Deputy David Morrow, 28, who has been charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, second-degree assault and tampering with a witness, all felonies, was fired Thursday, said Sgt. Terrance O’Neill, a sheriff’s office spokesman.
Morrow’s attorney, Sean Olson, however, told 9News the deputy had resigned a week earlier.
On June 12, the 15-year-old victim was in an ambulance with his hands and feet restrained when Morrow allegedly struck the teen in the face with his closed fist.
The incident happened after deputies broke up a party in unincorporated Adams County between Thornton and Welby. The teenager was allegedly drunk and became “verbally abusive.”
The 15-year-old was being taken to a hospital because he would not provide information about his parents so that they could be notified. Kieran Nicholson, The Denver Post
