An Australian company plans to drill for oil in the Niobrara Shale formation from three wells along the Wyoming-Colorado border.
Entek Energy says its exploratory wells will be drilled into the Niobrara in an area where it’s about 1,100 feet thick.
The Casper Star-Tribune ( ) reported that the company says the exploration of the area is part of a shift from the Denver-Julesberg Basin in northern Colorado. The basin is where most of the exploration of the Niobrara Shale is based and the activity has boosted land prices there.
