Trendy fashion retailer H&M plans to open a second Denver store in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.
The chain is scheduled to open its first store this fall in the former Niketown space at the downtown Denver Pavilions retail center.
Cherry Creek officials said the second H&M will open in late spring or early summer next year. The store will occupy 20,000 square feet, slightly smaller than the 21,000-square-foot downtown store.
Cherry Creek general manager Nick LeMasters said he can’t yet disclose the location for H&M because it will involve movement of some existing tenants, and the tenants haven’t been notified.
H&M will not be part of the mall’s space that Saks vacated in March after closing its store, LeMasters said.
H&M fits the category of “fast fashion” — retailers that offer contemporary apparel at affordable prices targeted to younger buyers. The chains often are more nimble than department stores and mainstream retailers in bringing new fashions to the market.
The company’s full legal name is Hennes & Mauritz AB. It was founded in 1947 and is based in Stockholm.
H&M operates about 2,300 stores in 40 markets worldwide.
