DENVER—Gov. John Hickenlooper is considering a proposal to privatize the state-chartered workers’ compensation insurance fund.

Last year, a similar program died in the legislature after lawmakers said it would limit their oversight of the program.

Spokesman Eric Brown tells the Denver Post ( ) that Hickenlooper is only considering whether privatizing Pinnacol Assurance, a quasi-governmental agency, would be in the best interests of the state and he has made no decision.

In a statement, Pinnacol board members confirmed they are discussing the proposal with the governor.
