DENVER—Denver International Airport officials say not as many passengers traveled through the airport last year as they thought.
The airport initially reported a record 52.2 million passengers for 2010, but officials later learned of mistakes with one airline’s traffic numbers. The airport said Wednesday that just under 52 million passengers traveled through the airport for 2010, which still set a record for annual traffic at the airport.
This year, more than 25.6 million travelers have used the airport through the first half of the year, which is up 2.6 percent from the same period last year.
Aviation manager Kim Day says it looks like the airport is on track for another record-breaking year. She says though fares are generally up around the industry, Denver remains a very competitive market.
