WINDSOR, Colo.—Some Windsor residents in the Ridge West subdivision are trying to form a coalition against an oil and gas company’s plan for a drilling pad within a mile of homes.
Greeley-based Ranchers Exploration Partners says its goal is to assist interested parties in their rights to the value of their mineral deposits while adhering to all legal and environmental requirements.
But one family contends royalties from minerals Ranchers Exploration extracts might not exceed $70 a year. Residents also say they’re concerned about how health and home values might be affected by hydraulic fracturing, which involves blasting water, sand and chemicals underground to extract natural gas. Industry officials say fracking has been done safely for years.
KCNC-TV in Denver reports ( ) residents planned to meet with the company Monday night.
