FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Colorado State University has been fined more than $23,000 by federal investigators after repeated violations of animal-handling laws.

University officials on Monday confirmed the violations, which included having contaminated feed and failing to provide shade for some animals.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan () , officials with the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service refused to comment on the violations.
