The owners of the 30,700-acre Cross Mountain Ranch about 22 miles southwest of Steamboat Springs sold 6,335 acres of the sprawling cattle, sheep and big-game operation to Twentymile Coal on Monday for $10.13 million, the Steamboat Springs Pilot reported.
Peabody Energy, based in St. Louis, owns the Twentymile Mine, an underground coal mine about 5 miles north of the property involved in this week’s transaction.
