Getting your player ready...

Seth Smith isn’t just hitting home runs; he’s hitting 3-woods. Smith’s 458-foot home run Sunday was the longest of his career, and he topped it Tuesday night with a 478-footer off the third-deck facade in right field in the fifth inning. The homer barely missed being an all-time top 10 shot at Coors Field, where 482 feet ranks 10th.

Streaking.

Jhoulys Chacin, on the Rockies’ slim playoff hopes: “You never know.” This much, however, is obvious: The Rockies would need a major winning streak to have any hope. Tuesday’s win gave them their first four-game winning streak since June 14-18, when they won two apiece from the Padres and Tigers. Their longest streak of the season is seven from April 9-15.

Breaking even.

The win evened the Rockies’ record at 16-16 vs. the NL Central. They’re 38-45 against the East and West. Jim Armstrong, The Denver Post
