She began sewing 21 years ago when her son was small. Since then, Joey Snow, of Sewing Addict, has advanced her skills and is now one of the crafters selling her wares at the Cañon City Farmers Market Saturdays on Macon Avenue through the season.
“I love to sew,” Snow said. “I use a lot of vintage materials to sew lounge pants, shorts, skirts, capris then I make aprons. A lot of them, I use recycled materials like tablecloths and (sometimes a) cafe curtain.”
And she never wastes any material. For instance, Snow makes items that are reusable, such as a sandwich bags from vintage sheets.
Instead of stuffing a sandwich in a plastic bag, the cloth bag is made for sandwiches. Best of all, the bag is washable and reusable, along with cloth bags for cookies and other munchables and picnic covers for dishes.
The Cañon City Farmers Market will continue from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 8.
