Motorists traveling through the construction zone that is Parker and Arapahoe roads will soon see a little relief.

The Colorado Department of Transportation is working on a major realignment this week at the busy intersection, which has been particularly difficult to navigate in recent weeks. The project will place southbound traffic on Parker Road onto a bridge being built over Arapahoe Road, said Mindy Crane, spokeswoman for CDOT.

The $32 million project, which kicked off last summer, is aimed at accommodating higher traffic volumes. Currently, the intersection sees 110,000 vehicles a day. Projections show that will increase to 170,000 vehicles by 2030.
