Oakwood Homes – on track to close its 10,000th home this coming week — has a great stopover planned for anybody out touring the Parade of Homes today; including lunch, if you can make it 11 to noon. Three months into sales at its luxurious Overlook neighborhood, on terraced sites in a scenic area of The Meadows, Oakwood already has ten sales.

“We know we’re getting lots of sales in our most affordable neighborhoods, but when we’re doing it at this price range, that’s a good sign for the housing market,” says Mike Tinlin, sales manager.

One of those ten went to Donald and Michelle Traver, who were visiting last week from Eagle River, Alaska, to see their home under way and to re-tour a furnished model of the same plan. Up in the 49th state the couple had done internet research on Denver, and they already knew about Castle Rock (named by Money Magazine last week high on the list of ‘Best Places to Live’) and its Douglas County Schools…however, they didn’t lock in on The Overlook until they could see the views for themselves, and had a chance to shop some re-sales.

“We liked the more mountainous feel,” said Donald Traver, adding that their Alaska home had great views of peaks around Anchorage, and keeping the scenery was important. The couple also wanted to maintain a balance between country and big-city attractions – something you can sense when you tour The Overlook, wrapped in ten miles of trail, new Bison Park, and Sky View Elementary School, set against 370-acre Ridgeline Open Space. Residents take the surroundings seriously – out walking the trails, or enjoying The Grange rec center with 14-foot water slide, 25-yard lap lanes, leisure pool and more. (Meadows residents pay $178 per QUARTER, not per month, for all of that).

You’ll see how the architecture blends into the open space; and you’ll get a feel for interior space, as well — 3,378 to 4,372 square feet, not counting basements. Contract now and you’ll not only get the Energy Star package (with energy bills guaranteed for the first two years of ownership) but also Oakwood’s ’20/20′ 20th anniversary bonus – 20 points toward free options such as backyard landscaping (8 points), a 2 kW solar system (6 points) or a stainless French-door fridge (5 points). Oakwood’s sites still available include walk-out and cul-de-sac situations…at prices starting from $378,700.

From I-25 at the Castle Rock Factory Stores, take Meadows Parkway west, two miles to MorningView Drive, turn left 2 blocks (past Oakwood’s New Beginnings and Carson models) to Foothills Drive, then left a half mile, beside the school.
