BROOMFIELD — The Boulder Valley School District issued directives Monday aimed at ensuring “a physically and emotionally safe learning environment” for its 29,000-plus students.
Superintendent Bruce Messinger’s announcement came less than three weeks after a federal lawsuit was filed alleging that the staff at Broomfield High failed to stop “a sustained pattern of sexual harassment” by former teacher and wrestling coach Travis Masse.
In one of his first public announcements since taking over as superintendent July 5, Messinger said he knows student safety is on people’s minds because of the lawsuit, and he wants the community to know it’s on his mind too.
