LONE TREE — A Denver police officer and his wife are facing misdemeanor child-abuse charges after a restaurant patron claimed they were “giving sips of an alcoholic drink to a toddler and allowing the child to eat food off the floor.”

Lone Tree police said Jeremy and Amy Olive were at the Fish City Grill with their daughter Aug. 22. Another witness told police the couple were “stumbling and pushing their stroller into the street as a car was approaching, and they had to quickly pull back to avoid being hit.”

Jeremy Olive is a patrol officer with about five years’ experience, Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. The Denver Police Department’s internal affairs bureau has a concurrent investigation into the incident, he said.
