
Denver was named today as one of the Top 10 Best Cities for recent college graduates.
The list was compiled by and . – CareerBuilder’s college job search website.
CareerBuilder said another silver lining is that 46 percent of employers plan to hire recent college graduates this year – up from 44 percent in 2010.
The website said that the Top 10 Cities are the places where the newly minted graduates have the best opportunity to jump-start their professional lives.
The report added that it paints a realistic picture of the current job market and cost of living in the most popular cities for young adults.
Tammy Kolula, spokeswoman for , said there are almost three times more renters moving for new job opportunities in 2011 than in 2010.
“This tells us the economy is improving but people are relocating as a result,” said Kolula.
She said the situation adds more pressure on new grads to find the right place at the right price.
Ranked first was Hartford-New Haven, followed by Cleveland, Boston, Denver, and Minneapolis.
Sixth was San Francisco, followed by Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Atlanta and St. Louis.
Cleveland had the cheapest average rent for a one bedroom apartment at $695. The highest was Washington, D.C. at $1,679. Denver was in the middle of the group with an average rent for a one bedroom apartment at $994.Howard Pankratz: 303-954-1939 or hpankratz@denverpost.com.
