
Small rocks crunched under shoes as the 75 people walked west along the railroad tracks toward the old flour mill site.
“Kind of a no-frills tour, isn’t it?” one woman joked during the show-and-tell Tuesday.
That long walk between First Avenue and the mill silos could someday pace out an RTD station platform.
The Regional Transportation District plans to put a park-and-ride bus station in the area by 2015; a train station is expected to follow as soon (or as late) as the FasTracks commuter rail funding comes through.
But saying it will be done and figuring out how to do it are two different things.
So, on Tuesday, the city’s consultants for a station-area master plan talked with 75 people who have a stake in the discussion — businesses, churches, city workers, seniors and more — to find out one key thing: How do we do this right?
