The driver of a semi-truck was walking around after having his leg trapped in the wreckage of a crash this morning.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Nate Reid said the driver’s leg was trapped when the flatbed semi-truck he was driving rolled around 5:25 a.m. on U.S. Highway 40 at milemarker 241.

A tow truck was sent to the scene and the driver was freed, Reid said, but was taken to St. Anthony Hospital as a precaution.

The driver’s condition was not immediately known.

Reid said the semi was leaking some diesel fuel after the crash.

“It’s on the non waterway side, so that’s good,” Reid said.

A state patrol hazardous materials team was sent to mitigate the fuel issue, Reid said.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said U.S. Highway 40 was closed in both directions at milemarker 241. It wasn’t immediately clear when it would reopen.
