LAKEWOOD, Colo.—Lakewood officials say they’ve found the first positive test for West Nile of the year at a city pond.

Officials from the city’s Urban Parks Division say the positive test for West Nile at Sanctuary Park should not be cause for alarm. The city says residents should continue to take normal precautions, such as using mosquito repellant and wearing long sleeves and pants.

Mosquito season is expected to end in a couple of weeks.

West Nile virus symptoms include fever, headache, body aches, skin rashes and swollen lymph nodes
