Officials are asking for the public’s help in finding a man accused of hitting and killing a man walking on Interstate 76 in August.

Robert Lucero, 29 of Denver, is wanted for several felony charges in connection with the fatal accident, said Trooper Nate Reid, a spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.

At 9:05 p.m. on Aug. 21, a man was walking in the left lane near 88th Avenue when he was hit by a black 2006 Chrysler 300 driven by Lucero.

A second car, a silver 1998 Honda Accord, hit the man, as well.

The man was pronounced dead on scene.

The female driver of the Honda stopped at a different location and called police. She has not been cited.

Lucero remained at the scene of the accident but gave troopers a fake name, Reid said. Authorities later discovered the ruse when they attempted to contact Lucero a second time.

Authorities have not had contact with him since the night of the accident.

Lucero is also wanted for parole violations.

Anyone with information about Lucero’s whereabouts is asked to call the Colorado State Patrol at 303-239-4501.
