Fifth-year senior Dustin Jackson and junior Drew Shore were named co-captains of the University of Denver hockey team. This season will be the first time Pioneers coach George Gwozdecky uses co- captains since Matt Carle and Gabe Gauthier shared the honor in 2005-06.

Shore, who was born in Denver, will be the program’s second Colorado native to wear the “C,” following defenseman J.P. Testwuide (2008-09) of Vail.

Shore, a 20-year-old center, led DU in scoring last season with 46 points (23 goals) in 40 games and had a team-best plus-minus rating (plus-29).

Jackson, from Omaha, is a checking-line winger who contributed eight points (five goals) in 30 games. He turned 25 in June.

Senior defenseman John Lee and junior blue-liner Paul Phillips will serve as DU’s assistant captains.
