Rapids: The players will have fond memories when they get to BMO Field, where they won the MLS Cup last November. . . . After last Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Los Angeles, the Rapids have been shut out in back-to-back games for the first time since April. . . . Colorado played to 0-0 draw when TFC was here in May. . . . Two Rapids defenders, Marvell Wynne and Tyrone Marshall, have played for TFC. . . . After today, the Rapids have four games left in the regular season, three of them at home.

TFC: Only expansion Vancouver has fewer points in the MLS standings, but TFC has shown signs of life with two wins and three ties in its last six games. Glaring stat: TFC has given up 21 goals more than it has scored, by far the worst goal margin in MLS. Maicon Santos was traded to FC Dallas on Aug. 2 but remains TFC’s leading scorer (six) this season. Explosive midfielder Joao Plata is out with hamstring injury.

Julian de Guzman: A 5-foot-6 1/2 midfielder with 44 appearances for the Canadian national team, de Guzman was signed in 2009 as TFC’s first designated player. Before that, he spent nine seasons in Europe, playing in France, Germany and Spain. His younger brother, Jonathan, plays for Villarreal in Spain. Both were born in Toronto.
