DENVER—Jefferson County authorities say a 13-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with series of fires they say were meant to kill her family.
A Jefferson County Sheriff’s spokeswoman says Thursday that the girl is suspected of started a 40-acre wildfire near Conifer in April that forced the evacuation of 80 homes.
Spokeswoman Jacki Kelley says the teenager’s family lived nearby.
The Denver Post reports ( ) authorities suspected arson in that fire and in two other fires at the family’s home within the next 24 hours. The third fire burned the home to the ground, but no one was hurt.
Officials say another fire was set last week the family’s new home.
Kelley says the teenager was arrested Tuesday and is facing attempted murder, arson and other charges.
