Pac-12: A good early-season matchup of South Division teams as No. 23 USC (3-0) plays at Arizona State (2-1) on Saturday night. ASU is without a few defensive starters, including Mullen High School alum Junior Onyeali (last year’s Pac-10 defensive player of the year), but this is the first road game of the season for the Trojans. USC junior quarterback Matt Barkley, right, is coming off last week’s win against Syracuse when he threw for five TDs.
Mountain West: The two programs that Bob Devaney built meet for the first time since 1994 as No. 9 Nebraska (3-0) plays at Wyoming (3-0). It’s the sixth game ever between the Cowboys and Huskers but the first in Laramie. Devaney left Wyoming after the 1961 season to become the head coach at the school in Lincoln that had six consecutive losing seasons. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
