Westminster police said this afternoon they had found the unmarked Boulder County Sheriff’s vehicle that was stolen in the city this morning, but there is no sign of the assault rifle, ammunition or, bullet-proof vest that were in the car. The sedan’s keys are also missing.
The 2005 Ford Taurus was taken during the night from the apartment complex where a detective lives in the 3800 block of West 68th Street. The vehicle turned up abandoned this afternoon about a mile away in the 7100 block of Stuart Street.
Besides the semi-automatic AR-15 rifle, the thief took a 30-round magazine from inside the car, as well as the bullet-proof vest.
Anyone who has information about the car is asked to call the Westminster Police Department at 303-658-4360, or the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office at 303-441-4444.
