Average retail gasoline prices in Denver fell 7.4 cents per gallon last week but remained 75.4 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago, according to .
The average price per gallon in Denver was $3.42 compared with a national average of $3.53 per gallon.
Gas prices in Denver are 1.8 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.
“Last week saw an impressive decline in crude oil and gasoline futures, and accordingly, motorists in most areas of the United States have seen retail gasoline prices decline,” said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst. “In some areas, prices have outright plunged to under $3 a gallon.”
DeHaan said that while there is much talk about the decline, the market remains extremely “sensitive to geopolitical issues” and annual refinery maintenance is looming.
