Crews have cleared an accident and two lanes of westbound Interstate 70 have re-opened, after several vehicles collided with an elk that wandered into the roadway west of Genesse.

Around 6:30 a.m., two – possibly three – vehicles hit the elk, said Trooper Heather Cobler, a spokeswoman for the Colorado State Patrol.

No one was injured in the accident.

The elk was killed.

The two left lanes of the three lane interstate were closed as crews cleared the accident, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
