Sales rep Janet Smith has no doubts about what she’s selling at Village Homes’ Watercolor neighborhood, set against a backdrop of Front Range peaks and scenic promontories on the west side of Castle Rock: “This is Colorado,” she says. “That’s why we attract so many buyers relocating here from out of state. When they see the views, the 15 miles of trails and the small-town feel, they know this is it.”

That’s exactly how a family from Chicago reacted, when they found Watercolor at The Meadows after scouring the area, just a day before they were set to fly home. “It was their last stop,” says Smith. “After they moved in, they joined The Meadows’ mountain climbing club.”

Smith made her own move to Castle Rock in 1981 – and has raised her family here. “It’s still the only place I’d choose to live,” she said, from Village’s two, sharp looking single-family models, including a 4-bedroom ‘Montclair’ plan, over 3,000 square feet, each bedroom with its own suite-style bath. “It really is a small town with parades, a rodeo, its own fireworks and holiday star-lighting ceremony.” Residents, she adds, hang out at Crowfoot Coffee on Wilcox…and at Sienna, Union Bistro and other top rated dining spots.

Meanwhile, they also have one of The Meadows’ best walk-to locations for accessing The Grange comprehensive rec center, with its leisure pool with 14-foot water slide and 25-yard lap lanes, and more. The school situation is near ideal…a chance to raise kids through all 13 years of Douglas County Schools that are right in the neighborhood …starting with new Clear Sky Elementary. The desirability of the on-site amenities, Smith adds, draw an uncommon number of families that work from home – using daytime breaks to bike or hike the trails.

Village has a choice selection of homes that can deliver that lifestyle (Castle Rock’s ranked by Money Magazine among the nation’s ‘Best Places to Live’), right away if you need – including an ‘Overland 3-bedroom-plus-study plan, landscaped front and back, 3-car garage, on a 6,500-foot home site. It’s ready now, priced at only $299,900.

Making that work budget-wise along with super-low interest rates are The Meadows very reasonable homeowner fees, covering the amenities: Currently only $178.50 – per QUARTER, not per month. “We’re 25 people building only a hundred homes a year,” adds Smith. “We deliver a quality of architecture that really stands our neighborhoods apart, and we do take contingency contracts.” To see Watercolor, from I-25 take Meadows Parkway west 2.2 miles to Dragonfly at turn right.
