A medical-marijuana center in Carbondale has been shut down and its owner arrested after an undercover officer bought suspected cocaine there, police said.
Mother Earth Medical Marijuana Center was shut down about 11 a.m. Friday and its owner was taken into custody, said Jolie Postlethwait, a spokeswoman with the Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division of the Colorado Department of Revenue.
State enforcement agents teamed with a local drug task force for several weeks after receiving tips that the center was selling marijuana to people who didn’t have medical cards and that the center was selling illegal drugs, according to a Revenue Department statement.
An undercover officer with the TRIDENT Two Rivers Drug Enforcement Team bought suspected cocaine at the center, and the undercover team found “evidence of an illegal medical-marijuana purchase,” police said.
