DENVER—The Colorado State Patrol is trying to find the driver who was involved a fatal hit-and-run crash southeast of Grand Junction earlier this week.

Troopers say the driver of a white, newer-model compact sedan was headed east on Highway 92 between Delta and Hotchkiss on Tuesday when the vehicle veered into oncoming traffic. The driver of a westbound pickup truck swerved to avoid a head-on crash, and his vehicle overturned as it slid off the roadway.

The pickup’s driver, 67-year-old James Hodges of Paonia, suffered minor injuries. His wife, 66-year-old Alice Hodges, died at a local hospital.
