A hiker was recovering Saturday after being lost overnight in Lair O’ The Bear Park in Kittredge.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received the first report that Bob Johnson, 74, was missing on Thursday.
Johnson is an avid hiker and a frequent visitor to the park. When he did not return home as expected Thursday night, his wife went to the park and found his car in the parking lot.
The Alpine Rescue Team conducted a search until after midnight. Just after 6 p.m. Friday, Jefferson County sheriff’s spokesman Mark Techmeyer confirmed Johnson was found.
Johnson suffered some head injuries during a fall.
“He was found three-quarters of a mile south of the parking lot in a very rocky area where it appears he took a fall,” Techmeyer said.
