The children at the Renaissance Children’s Center have a plethora of new toys after construction on a new natural classroom was recently completed.

The children’s center, 1797 Kendall St. in Lakewood, serves as the childcare center for the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and has been in Lakewood for nearly 13 years. The natural classroom was designed and built by CH2M Hill, an engineering and construction company.

The classroom replaced the old playground outside the center.

“The difference is incredible because the kids have a much more concrete appreciation of nature. Just being able to sit under a tree is something they don’t get all the time,” said Susan Dunn, director of the Renaissance Children’s Center.
