An 11-year-old Adams County girl has been arrested on charges of extortion and false reporting of explosives in connection with a bomb threat at her school.
The sixth grader was arrested about 6 p.m. and is being held at the Juvenile Detention Facility in Brighton on a $2,500 bond, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said tonight in a news release.
On Oct. 12, Ranum Middle School was evacuated after a phone call that threatened the lives of everyone in the school, the sheriff’s office said. The next day, a caller renewed the threat, demanding $100 and stating that there was a bomb in one of the school lockers.
Again, the school was evacuated and the Adams County Bomb Squard swept the school. No devices were found.
