FORT COLLINS — Colorado State safety Ivory Herd will be suspended “for an indefinite amount of time,” CSU coach Steve Fairchild said today, as a result of the senior’s arrest on domestic violence, harassment and criminal mischief last Wednesday.

According to the Fort Collins police, Herd argued with his girlfriend, pushed her and broke the bedroom door in her off-campus apartment.

Herd was suspended from the team and did not make the trip to CSU’s game at UTEP Saturday. Fairchild said today Herd would not make the trip to CSU’s next game, which is Saturday at UNLV.

“We consider this a very serious issue,” Fairchild said in a statement released this evening. “I immediately suspended Ivory last week, and he’ll remain suspended for an indefinite amount of time. We’re going to hold him accountable.”

During his weekly Monday news conference Fairchild said, “He violated team rules, so we’ll suspend him. It’s not season-ending, we’ll just evaluate it.”

Herd, who was nominated by the team for the American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team based on off-field character and leadership, released a statement.

“I fully realize the seriousness of the situation and I want to sincerely apologize to everyone involved in this, including my coaches, teammates and the university,” he said.

Redshirt freshman Drew Reilly started in Herd’s place against UTEP. CSU defensive coordinator Larry Kerr said Reilly will continue to start until Herd is reinstated, if he is reinstated.
