The funeral for Jervon Wayne Pitts, 30, of Commerce City was held this week in Aurora, as police continue to look for clues in his unexplained death Oct. 15.
Pitts was found dead at East 56th Avenue and Quebec Street in Commerce City at about 9:30 that night. According to his obituary, Pitts went by the name “Little Face.”
His grandmother Billie Walker said Thursday that Pitts’ body was found in the street. He had suffered massive injuries to his head and face, she said. His wallet and cash were still on him, and someone took his identification, she said.
Investigators have released little information in the case, and the Adams County coroner’s office lists the cause of death as “pending.” Detective Mike Saunders, a spokesman for Commerce City police, said investigators do not want to release details about the case because they are actively pursuing those who are responsible. Anyone with information about Pitts’ death can call the Commerce City police tip line at 303-289-3626 or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
