WHEAT RIDGE, Colo.—Wheat Ridge police are investigating an auto accident that left two high school students dead and two others in critical condition.
Wheat Ridge police spokeswoman Lisa Spinder says investigators have not determined if alcohol or drugs played a role. She says speed was a major factor in the accident, which occurred Sunday when their speeding sport utility vehicle went airborne for 40 feet before slamming into a tree.
According to KMGH-TV ( ), the crash killed the driver, 18-year-old Tyler Lovell of Golden, and 17-year-old Rain Walsh of Lakewood.
The two surviving passengers were Steve Miskimon and Andre Lang Watchman, both 19-year-old Lakewood residents.
