A small plane crashed near Alamosa Thursday afternoon, killing one person, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Cessna 337 crashed about 4:30 p.m. two miles south of Alamosa, FAA spokesman Allen Kenitzer said in an e-mail.

The Lutheran Associations of Missionaries and Pilots, based in Canada, today on its website identified the pilot as the Rev. Steve Dreher.

The Valley Courier newspaper in Alamosa reported the plane was traveling from San Luis Valley Regional Airport-Bergman Field in Alamosa to Salida, a distance of about 80 miles.
