CDOT plans to close all lanes of westbound Interstate 70 near Quebec Street on Sunday and Monday nights so workers can realign traffic as part of a bridge replacement project on I-70 over Sand Creek.
The Colorado Department of Transportation is replacing 50-year-old I-70 structures over Sand Creek between Quebec and the Interstate 270 junction as part of an $8 million project.
For the realignment, CDOT on Sunday night will close one lane of westbound I-70 between Central Park Boulevard and Quebec at 7 p.m., a second lane at 10 p.m. and all lanes at midnight. All lanes will stay closed from midnight to 5:30 a.m. Monday, CDOT said.
The same closure pattern is expected to be in effect Monday night into Tuesday morning.
Traffic on I-70 during the closure will be detoured off the highway at the Central Park Boulevard exit and routed to Quebec, where motorists will be able to access westbound I-70 and I-270.
At 5:30 a.m., Tuesday traffic will be realigned in the area and work will proceed over the next eight months on other portions of the bridge over Sand Creek, according to CDOT.
