Officials at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs say they’re planning to seek a branch of the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
The Gazette reported that the school’s new Lane Center for Academic Health Sciences building will include space for a branch campus of the medical school. The 56,000- square-foot building is expected to open January 2014.
About two years ago, a Colorado Springs group exploring economic development spearheaded a study on the feasibility of starting a CU medical school branch. Dan Meyers, communications director for the CU medical school, said the plan is still on the table.
Meyers said the school has not yet applied for accreditation but is assessing the new branch.
