BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder County Jail officials say they will make sure all inmates are aware of their voting rights after an inmate complained he was deprived of his rights in this month’s election.

The rules were clarified after 27-year-old Jeffrey Neering complained that jail deputies brushed him off when he asked how to get a ballot. Neering is awaiting trial on attempted-murder charges in relation to a throat-slashing in August.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera ( ), Neering says he felt he was shut down by authorities when he tried to vote.
