BOULDER, Colo.—A bank manager who was found bound with duct tape inside a bank vault has been convicted of theft and conspiracy in the robbery.

Authorities accused Lizardo “Alan” Monje of participating in the Feb. 18 robbery of an Academy Bank located inside a north Longmont Walmart Supercenter that netted $310,000. A jury handed up the verdict Monday.

A co-worker discovered Monje inside the vault and called police. Monje told investigators a man with a large knife forced him into the back office as he opened the bank.

The Longmont Daily Times-Call reports ( ) police and FBI agents became suspicious based on the robber’s unusual amount of knowledge about the bank and bank security.

The other suspect, Frank David Gutierrez, pleaded guilty last month to felony theft.
