A bank manager who was found bound with duct tape inside a bank vault has been convicted of theft and conspiracy in the robbery.

Authorities accused Lizardo “Alan” Monje of participating in the Feb. 18 robbery of an Academy Bank inside a north Longmont Walmart Supercenter that netted $310,000.

A co-worker discovered Monje inside the vault and called police. Monje told investigators that a man with a large knife forced him into the back office as he opened the bank.

The other suspect, Frank David Gutierrez, pleaded guilty last month to felony theft. The Associated Press
